Helping our Heroes through Freedom Day
Do you remember where you were and what you were doing the morning of September 11th, 2001? It was such a pivotal day for so many of us. A day we won’t forget. A day where we still wish to honor our fallen and our heroes.
Freedom Day, organized by Entrepreneurs For North Texas (EFNT), is a community service event honoring the lives lost and those forever changed by the tragic events of September 11. As a long-standing member of EFNT, Freedom Day is the event we most look forward to each year.
This year the project Insite participated in benefited Equest Hooves for Heroes, an equestrian program established to assist Veterans with their transition to civilian life. Therapeutic horsemanship has been shown to aid in this transition and help Veterans realize their potential as civic assets and community leaders.
So we rolled up our sleeves (and occasionally held our noses) to do our part and help make a positive impact in people’s lives. The Freedom Day team worked to clear trails, stain and weatherize the facilities, clear out the gardens, and refurbish the horticulture class areas. Not only is this a wonderful cause but everyone here loves animals and helping the community.
“Freedom Day is a great way to spend 9/11, working along with 750+ other great corporate citizens of Entrepreneurs For North Texas (EFNT) to make our community better! It connects us with like-minded companies that care deeply about being a contribution to our community and to the world.”
Adrienne Palmer, President
“It was really rejuvenating to work alongside so many great people for a worthwhile cause. Working outside definitely gave plenty of opportunities to reflect on the significance of the day and of the projects we were working on. And getting to meet all the adorable horses was an added bonus!”

While we can’t change the past, we can do our small part to help make the future better and brighter.
